The camshaft is located inside the engine, i.e. the upper part of the engine. The camshaft is a component in the piston engine. Here's how it works:
1. It controls the opening and closing of the valve, although the camshaft rotates at half the speed of the crankshaft in a four-stroke engine (the camshaft rotates at the same speed as the crankshaft in a two-stroke engine);
2. But generally its speed is still very high, and it needs to bear a lot of torque, so the camshaft design in strength and support requirements are very high, the material is generally special cast iron, occasionally with forgings;
3. The camshaft design plays a very important role in the engine design process because the valve movement law is related to the engine power and running characteristics.
