Product Information

S cam brake uses cam instead of brake wheel cylinder to actuate the two brake shoes, and usually uses air pressure to rotate the cam. The inner part of the brake adjusting arm of the cam brake is driven by a worm gear, which is connected with the camshaft through splines. During normal braking, the brake adjusting arm drives the worm to rotate around the worm gear axis, and the worm drives the worm gear to rotate, so that the cam rotates, and the brake shoe is opened for braking.

Because of the central symmetry of the contour of S cam brake and the axial symmetry of the structure and installation of the two shoes, the displacement of the corresponding points on the two shoes caused by the cam rotation must be equal. The leading and trailing shoe brake actuated by the cam with fixed axis is an equal displacement brake. The friction between the brake drum and the brake shoe makes the leading shoe end try to leave the brake cam, and the trailing shoe end is closer to the cam.
